Welcome to SW Pilates
Pilates is an exercise method that is designed to realign and evenly condition the body. Through controlled movements, the body is stretched and strengthened, targeting the deep “core” muscles which give the body a well defined, lean shape. By developing strong core muscles posture is improved, flexibility increased and joint mobility enhanced.
We cover Darlington, Durham, Teesdale and North Yorkshire offering one on one sessions or group classes. It is an established and recognised form of exercise which Joseph Pilates, (1880-1967) originally developed to improve his own health and body. Pilates continues to be practised and enjoyed by a wide range of people.
The Pilates method is based around precise flowing movements and when practised, faulty movement patterns in the body can be identified and corrected. It also helps to improve bone density, lung capacity and blood circulation. Pilates classes really are for everyone; from first time exercisers to elite athletes and dancers. It is highly recommended by health professionals to help with rehabilitation and improve a sense of well being. It is a low impact exercise and suitable for anyone of any age who wishes to improve their general well being.
